Split a PDF or pull out the pages you need
Written by Autonome. Updated 5 November 2026.
How do I take a few pages out of a PDF as a separate file?
Type the pages you want as a range, like 1-3, 7, and save them as a new PDF. To break one long file into several, give a range for each. The PDF you started with doesn't change.
In Autonome PDF that's the Split PDF tool. It runs in your browser, and you sign in (free) when you download the new files.
- Ranges like 1-3, 7 pick exactly the pages you want.
- Give several ranges to get several files.
- The original stays as it was.
Split a PDF
Choose your file and Split PDF opens, with every page shown. Nothing is uploaded.
| Step | What you do | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open the PDF | You see a thumbnail of every page |
| 2 | Choose Split PDF and type the ranges | For example 1-3, 7, or 1-5 then 6-10 |
| 3 | Download | Each range comes out as its own PDF |
Pulling the same pages out every week?
If the bank statement, the payslip run or the site pack always gets cut up the same way, PDF Studio in Autonome can do it on the copy in Company Files and keep each piece as a new version beside the original.

Questions
How do I write the pages?
Commas and hyphens. 1-3, 7 gives you pages 1, 2, 3 and 7.
Does it change my original PDF?
No. Split makes new files and leaves the one you opened alone.
Do I need an account?
Not to open or edit. You sign in when you download (free, no card), and that gives you 5 downloads a week.
