How it's built: same Cloudflare foundation, same methodology — why merging was a no-brainer
Because our earlier versions of Autonome were already built on Cloudflare with the exact same safety methodology, merging our work into a fork of Cloudflare OS was a complete no-brainer.
Why merging our earlier Cloudflare work with Cloudflare OS made complete sense
Our previous versions of Autonome were already built on Cloudflare and followed the exact same methodology: keep passwords locked away from the AI, isolate every workspace, simulate changes before they happen, and wait for a person to approve.
When Cloudflare released Cloudflare OS on the exact same Cloudflare building blocks with the same safety model, merging our work into a fork of Cloudflare OS was a no-brainer. Base Cloudflare OS gives you an incredible workspace out of the box (the top and bottom layers above), and the dashed middle boxes show what we merged in from five generations of building Autonome (see our 2020–2026 timeline).
What comes from Cloudflare OS vs. what we merged in
| Part of the system | Where it comes from | What that means for your business |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace, assistant & mini-apps | Comes from base Cloudflare OS | Your team gets a fast, clean workspace and custom mini-apps without paying per-seat subscription fees |
| Google Workspace & staff devices | Comes from base Cloudflare OS (extended to weekly jobs in our fork) | Connects Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sheets, plus staff Macs, PCs and phones when needed |
| Microsoft 365 & shared vs. private inboxes | Merged from our earlier Cloudflare builds into Autonome OS | Connects Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint while keeping personal inboxes strictly private |
| Weekly jobs & dry-run testing | Merged from 5 generations of Autonome on Cloudflare | Describe a weekly job once, test it on real figures with nothing sent, and run it on schedule |
| Company branding in /admin | Added in our fork (Autonome OS) | Your workspace carries your own company name throughout the app |
| Hands-on deployment & support | Delivered directly by Alister | Everything is set up in your own account, connected to your real tools, and taught to your staff |
Six findings from years of our own work
If you’d like the deeper story of how we learned these lessons over the years of building, you can read the full case study at How I built Autonome, so small teams can hand over the busywork:
- The AI suggests, and a person decides: the AI helps write the plan in plain English, and once you approve it, the system follows those exact steps every week.
- Passwords and keys stay locked away: your app sign-ins live in their own locked store and are never shown to the AI.
- Every company’s data stays in its own lane: each business has its own separate workspace and connections.
- Try it without the nerves: a test run reads your real figures and shows you the exact email it would send, while sending nothing.
- Checked before any update goes live: we replay more than a hundred real recorded office jobs automatically before shipping any change to the engine.
- No sneaky web links: jobs can only talk to the legitimate apps you connected, never random outside addresses.
